The ministry of Langham Partnership UK & Ireland is overseen by a board of trustees, with day-to-day management delegated to the executive director.
David Cansdale (Chair): David Cansdale was a police officer, serving initially in the Metropolitan Police from 1963 and then in Hertfordshire Constabulary where he was Assistant Chief Constable from 1989 to 1997. Since then he has been able to give his time to the Diocese of St Albans and a number of charities including London School of Theology, All Saints Centre for Employment and New Directions (ASCEND) and Hertfordshire Community Foundation. He is a Reader and Church Warden at Christ Church, Chorleywood. He is married and has three adult children and two grandchildren.
John Thomas (Treasurer): John Thomas is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. After obtaining a degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and professional training from KPMG, London, he worked for a small firm for six years before setting up his own practice which is now based in Southall. His interest in Charity Finance has seen him in the following roles; Finance Director, Consultant, Independent Examiner and Auditor. He is currently a trustee of 4 charities. John is married and has two sons.
David Turner: David Turner is a circuit judge dividing his time between the Crown Court at Chelmsford and the Royal Courts of Justice in London, where he sits as a deputy high court judge. He was called to the bar in 1976 and became a QC in 2000. In practice he is a family law specialist. Since his student days at King’s College, London, he has been involved at All Souls Church, Langham Place, serving as church warden there since 1983 and reader since 1981. He is married and has two sons.
John Wyatt: John Wyatt is professor of Neonatal Pediatrics and Consultant Neonatal Pediatrician at University College London. He has a long-standing interest in medical ethics and is chairman of the Study Group of the Christian Medical Fellowship and a board member of the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity. He is married and has three children. The family are active members of All Souls Church, Langham Place.
Paul Batchelor: Paul joined the Board of LPUKI in 2005 after assisting the Board in aligning its national role with the emerging role of Langham Partnership International. He also serves on the LPUKI Finance Committee. He is a member of St Nicholas Church, Sevenoaks where he was church-warden from 2001-2007 and a member of the Board of OM Ships, part of Operation Mobilisation. Paul worked as a development economist in Africa, was a partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1982-2004 and is now board chairman of Crown Agents and OPM, two international development consultancies.
Norman Fraser: Norman is an IT entrepreneur who has started a number of successful companies, including the first British venture in the Republic of Moldova. He is currently CEO of a Silicon Valley startup. He is a past Assistant Head of Student Ministries at UCCF, and current Trustee of IVP and Chair of Living Leadership. He was a Trustee of EELAC until it merged with Langham Partners. Norman has degrees from Edinburgh and London Universities, and was a UK Entrepreneur of the Year semi-finalist in 2004. He is married to Sarah and is a member of the Leadership Team of Christ Church Ewell.
Mary Evans: Mary taught mathematics for two years at a Manchester comprehensive school before studying for four further years at LBC. She then continued on the staff at LBC/LST for the next 30 years becoming vice-principal for the last few years. During that time she had experience as a visiting lecturer for varying lengths of time in Pakistan, India, Brazil, Rumania and Zambia as well as in Canada and Australia. She has also had the opportunity to visit mission work, often involving theological colleges, in Ecuador, Ghana and Niger. Her involvement on the councils of Bible Society, Global Connections, EA, Latin Link and SIM (not all at the same time!) has also been fairly extensive. For the last 3 years she has been teaching Old Testament and functioning as the Acting Academic Dean at the Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology in Addis Ababa. She is the author of several books including the BST commentary on 1 and 2 Samuel.
Ronald Clements: Ronald Clements is a freelance writer and researcher and writes biographies of missionaries in Asia, murder mysteries, and for TV and film. Ronald graduated from King’s College, London, in Civil Engineering and worked as a junior engineer after completing his Ph.D. Between 1986 and 1996 he and his wife lived in Fujian Province, China, where Ronald lectured in Civil Engineering at a Chinese university. Ronald lives in Kent and has three daughters. His wife, Anne, is minister of West Kingsdown Baptist Church. www.ronaldclements.com
Berdine van den Toren-Lekkerkerker: Berdine grew up in the Netherlands. She is currently working as the Learning Advisor for the Church Mission Society and is also a PhD candidate at the Protestant Theological University in Utrecht (The Netherlands). Before coming to the UK, Berdine lived and worked, together with her husband and three sons, in the Central African Republic, where she was involved in the theological education of women at the Faculté de Théologie Évangélique de Bangui. She also worked as a consultant in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention with Evangelical Churches in Central and West Africa.
Executive Director: Ian Buchanan
Ian joins LPUKI after helping Scripture Gift Mission through an extensive repositioning project as the new Lifewords ministry. He is married with three children. Ian studied in the commercial world both Engineering Metallurgy and Marketing and also included training for the ministry obtaining a Master of Divinity from Columbia International University, USA and a Master of Theology from Trinity International University (TEDS), USA. His ministry skills include an intense passion for good communication through preaching, teaching and writing. Ian was born in Kenya and studied in South Africa, USA and England. Hobbies include kayaking, reading, rambling and cycling.
